How a monthly budget works
A budget is a plan for a month. It is not the same thing as the transactions that have already happened.
Plan, then compare
A useful budget starts with the money you expect to receive and the amounts you intend to spend in each category. Aldoraun keeps that plan separate from the transactions you record.
At the end of the month you can see what is left in each category. Overspending is the actual amount above the plan. It is not hidden by averaging it away.
Do not count the same cost twice
A recurring rent payment and a budget line for rent describe the same cost. The forecast uses the recurring payment. The budget is the comparison with what you actually spent.
Moving money to a savings account is a transfer. It reduces one balance and increases another. It is not income and it is not spending.
